Megan is a writer, poet and student. She attends school online at Arizona State University and is studying to get an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies – Psychology and Family & Human Development. She ultimately plans to get a Master’s in either Social Work or Psychology/Counseling. It is her hope to work with youth in San Antonio via counseling and/or social work.
Megan works in Texas with City Year San Antonio through Americorps. She dedicates her time in school classrooms teaching English and working to improve appropriate behaviors and attendance in students.
Previous experience includes working closely with HopeXchange (Hope for Bipolars), GLAAD, the Advocacy Center of Tompkins County, Family & Children’s Services of Ithaca, Crisis Text Line, and Planned Parenthood of the Southern Fingerlakes.
She lives with her cat son, Felix, and her favorite pup, Ollie, in San Antonio and enjoys earl gray tea, fuzzy blankets, her fiancé (Terri), and reading anything by Patti Smith.
Her first book of poetry and prose, A Filmic Existence, is currently in the works, as well as the outline for a second, Temporary Places.
Here, you can find bits and pieces of what she’s working on.
